Summer is here and sun damage is one cause of skin ageing, daily use of a good sunscreen can assist in preventing premature ageing. it’s time to change your skincare routine to be more summer specific. In the summer change to lighter products like serums and an exfoliating cleanser as the weather hots up.
Take care to apply sunscreen on every part of your body that will be exposed to the sun, even your ears, hands, neck, and chest. And reapply every 2 hours and it is best to apply sunscreen at least 15 to 20 minutes before sun exposure.
Avoid sun exposure as much as possible from 11am – 4pm. This is the most damaging time of the day for your skin.
You should wear a wide brim hat to keep out harmful rays both on top of your head and on your face.
SPF what? This is the Sun Protection Factor a product has and is the measurement of how long you can stay in the sun before getting burnt by the sun’s rays.
Perfect tan? Use a scrub prior to heading out into the sun will allow your tan to develop on the fresh new skin and will give you an all over better and more prolonged tan.
A good toner will help keep the skin hydrated, cool and is especially good for those with redness and any inflammation.
Cloudy day? You can still get sun damage on a cloudy day. Makes sure you are always protected, use a moisturiser with an SPF.
